In the heart of the Cambridgeshire Fens, where endless skies meet the distinctive flat landscape, a small community of passionate photographers has formed around a shared love of seeing the world differently.

We are fenfoto—a collective of amateur photographers based around Ely and Cambridge, united by our appreciation for both vintage and digital photography, with a particular fondness for the timeless quality of black and white imagery.

We’re friendly and not obsessed by technique and equipment. The magic comes from what you see, the camera helps you tell that story.

Our Approach

While we embrace modern digital techniques, many of us have a special affection for vintage cameras and the distinctive character they bring to photography. There’s something wonderfully tactile and deliberate about working with film that continues to captivate us.

Black and white photography dominates our collective work, though not exclusively. We’re drawn to the way monochrome strips away distraction and focuses attention on composition, texture, and the play of light and shadow—revealing the extraordinary in what might otherwise seem ordinary.
